After two years of hard work, a successful kickstarter, many airplane rides, and hundreds (if not thousands) of hours, LUTHER: The Life and Legacy of the German Reformer is available for pre-order. LUTHER is a 91-minute documentary directed by Canadian filmmaker Stephen McCaskell. It depicts the story behind the man who sparked the Protestant Reformation five hundred years ago this October.

Martin Luther’s daring life is presented in extensive detail while still making the film relevant, provocative, and accessible. His remarkable and world-changing story is told through a seamless combination of live-action storytelling and striking animation.

For this documentary a number of scholars came together to give us a deeper understanding of the life of Martin Luther including Dr. R.C. Sproul, Stephen Nichols, Robert Kolb, Carl Trueman, W. Robert Godfrey, and Steven Lawson.

About the Director

Stephen McCaskell

Stephen McCaskell is an independent filmmaker based in Manitoba, Canada. His first documentary, Through The Eyes of Spurgeon, has been seen more than 200,000 times. Working with organizations like Samaritan’s Purse, International Justice Mission, and Haven Ministries, he has traveled to multiple countries, including Iraq, Peru, and Cuba, to share how God is working in the lives of his people.

Like any film, LUTHER: The Life and Legacy of the German Reformer had many moving parts behind the scenes. There are writers, editors, animators, photographers, producers, and many more contributors who have put in countless hours, working hard to produce an excellent film.

We want to “pull back the curtain” of the film a bit. We know that you will love the final production when you see the film in April, and we want to give you a glimpse into the how and what of the film.
